April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among a few female players of beach volleyball that have done so. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third Olympic medal. In addition, Ross hopes to win the first Olympic gold. It could be the last chance she'll ever have at age 39. The athlete is optimistic she will be able to win top awards. Ross on NBC Boston, said that when the team performs very well, or even at all, they can earn a gold. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck as well. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in 1982. Her parents as well as her sister resided in the area. Her athletic career continued at Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several sports. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball as well as basketball, running and track. While she did well in indoor volleyball, it was clear that her performance was above normal. As per her biography, during high school she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). The award was presented to her as by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. In 2000, she was named Orange County Athlete of the Year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started their relationship in 2017 however, Ross has been a beach player for years prior to. It's true that she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one of them was a volleyball superstar. The pair teamed with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's coach. Kessy's teammate Ross, who was the winner of the world championship together with Kessy in 2009 was also an important player on the international stage. They took home a Silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team as well as Kerri Jennings won the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor when she retired. They were able to win the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning starting her professional career. She played in high school and in before hitting the beaches as a professional. And her run at USC was an impressive one. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year awards and earned an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore year, but she still repeated as an All-American. Through her last two years within the team, she guided the Trojans towards the summit of the mountain winning successive national titles. For her part, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the most outstanding female college volleyball players in the nation. Ross was a major in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the chance to watch Ross' daughter blossom into a beach volleyball superstar. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001, when Ross was an USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. As a result, Ross continues to be close to her deceased parent. Margie is a source of inspiration in her life and on the beaches.
